We met Anita Rai at a trail race in Nepal – and immediately took her into our hearts. Small, strong and full of zest for life, despite her difficult circumstances. Dependent on the support of friends and with few prospects for the future, Anita has never lost her courage.

It quickly became clear to us that Anita deserved a real chance. That's why we decided to support her financially – so that she could afford the necessary equipment for her beloved trail running sport. But we didn't stop there.

We went one step further and invited Anita to Austria – with the opportunity to work and build a new life for herself. For her, this offer was a real game changer.

No sooner had she arrived than the little powerhouse threw herself into the winter season with boundless energy. Working in a mountain hut was anything but easy, but Anita mastered every challenge with flying colours – with heart, discipline and a beaming smile.

After a short break, she returned in the summer to the Tappenkarseehütte in the Salzburg mountains – which quickly became her second home. ‘Family connection included,’ you could say.

Then something very special happened this summer: Anita ran her first international race in Gastein – and surprised everyone. With an outstanding 2nd place, she became the star of the race. It was a moment that not only boosted her self-confidence, but also set the course for her future.

Today, Anita is passionate about her job and is determined to pursue her running career. Step by step, her dreams are coming true – through hard work, perseverance and impressive inner conviction.
