Nepal October 2025
Travel & Preparation – the whole village lends a hand
Even before the camp, we were able to send many clothing donations to Chachalung in two early transports. Our team from Salzburg brought an additional ~180 kg of luggage plus medical supplies. Setting up the camp was a true team effort: Dr. Sigi, Sonja and Petra worked alongside our boys, supported by many villagers who carried beds from nearby homes, cleared classrooms and prepared the rooms so everything was ready for the next day.
Around 200 patients treated
Over the clinic days, we treated about 200 patients. A new highlight this year was the warmly arranged waiting area, the small “Café Chachalung,” where Anita served coffee, tea and biscuits. Medical care included wound treatment, skin conditions, gastrointestinal issues and pain relief (including acupuncture). Together with Jiten, Suman and Pogmita, we also distributed reading glasses (1.5–3.5 diopters).
Home visits & long-term support
Home visits for immobile patients remain essential. This year, we also focused on improving conditions at home: special mattresses for bedridden patients were purchased and delivered later. Some patients continue to receive ointments and medication even after the camp to help maintain the progress.
Schools, clothing distribution & conclusion
Pancha organized school supplies in Kathmandu for teachers, which were presented during a small ceremony. Thanks to many donations, our clothing storage once again allowed us to distribute jackets, trousers, sweaters and more to families. Overall, Medcamp 2025 was a great success—made possible by strong preparation, teamwork and the heartfelt support of the local community.
