Bericht über die Matratzenaktion in Chachalung

During our most recent Med Camp in October 2025 in Chachalung, we carried out numerous home visits in addition to regular patient care. These visits made it especially clear that many immobile patients spend most, if not all, of their day confined to their beds. In many cases, the existing mattresses were in very poor condition, placing an additional physical burden on the patients.

It quickly became evident that providing high-quality mattresses would significantly improve the comfort and quality of life of these patients. Therefore, we tasked our Pancha with sourcing suitable mattresses and organizing their transport to Chachalung.

After approximately six weeks, he was able to find appropriate mattresses in Kathmandu. Once purchased, the next challenge was transporting them to the village. Due to the ongoing limitations in access to Chachalung, transportation was difficult. Several local young men were informed at short notice and generously agreed to carry the mattresses to the patients’ homes.

When the mattresses finally reached their new owners, the response was deeply moving. There were tears of gratitude — a powerful reminder of how meaningful even simple interventions can be.

We are very grateful that this initiative was made possible through the collaboration between the Boys & Girls Fund and our Foundation, and we would like to sincerely thank everyone involved for their support.
